RINDGE, N.H. (January 9, 2006) – Two Franklin Pierce student-athletes have collected weekly honors from the Northeast-10 Conference this afternoon.

DelSavio earned NE-10 Player of the Week honors for the first time after totaling a goal and four assists last week.

Junior forward Brian DelSavio (Orangeburg, N.Y./Pearl River) was selected as the NE-10’s Player of the Week in ice hockey, while guard Timothy Munch (Blauvelt, N.Y./Storm King Prep) received NE-10 Freshman of the Week accolades in men’s basketball.

DelSavio collected the first NE-10 weekly honor of his career after leading Franklin Pierce with a goal and four assists in a pair of contests last week. He played a role in all three Raven goals, with a goal and two assists, at Fitchburg State College on Thursday, before dishing two assists in Saturday’s 6-6 tie with Western New England College.

DelSavio leads Franklin Pierce this season with 16 points, on seven goals and nine assists. The junior forward is averaging 1.23 points per game (7th NE-10), as well as 0.54 goals (T-4th NE-10).

DelSavio has played in 55 games over his three-year career with the Ravens, totaling 37 points, on 16 goals and 21 assists.

Munch was named NE-10 Freshman of the Week for the second time after helping the Ravens to a 2-0 week.

Munch earns his second Freshman of the Week award of the season after averaging 9.5 points, hitting 46.7-percent (7-of-15) of his shots, and two rebounds in a 2-0 week for Franklin Pierce. He netted ten points to go with three rebounds in Saturday’s 81-66 victory over Saint Michael’s College after opening the week with nine points in Thursday’s 58-49 decision at Le Moyne College.

Munch has made an immediate impact in his freshman season with the Ravens. He is averaging 11.3 points (3rd on the team) through 11 games (three starts) and is second on the team in both three-point shooting (.261, 18-of-69) and free-throw percentage (.786, 22-of-28). Munch has also totaled 20 rebounds, 12 assists and nine steals.

Munch has led Franklin Pierce in scoring twice this season, including his second collegiate game against CUNY-Baruch in which he netted a team season-best 31 points.

The Franklin Pierce men’s basketball team (7-5, 4-3 NE-10) is back in action tomorrow night when it visits Saint Anselm College at 7:30 p.m. The Ravens ice hockey team (1-9-3, 1-3-0 NE-10, 0-5-2 ECAC-NE) is off until Saturday, when it hosts Salve Regina at 7 p.m.
