Women in Leadership Certificate
A certificate is offered
in Women in Leadership.
The Women in Leadership Certificate is an
interdisciplinary program that offers an integrative
approach to learning about the interconnections among
gender, race, class, sexuality, and transnational issues.
The program takes gender and sexuality as its critical terms
of inquiry, exploring them as social constructs and
analyzing their impact on culture. The Program aims to build
a supportive environment for women to assist them in the
development of leadership skills through a program that
integrates theory and practice. To meet this goal, the
Program combines academic study with participation in
internships both on and off campus.
The Program and the resulting
Certificate will credential students as theoretically and
materially knowledgeable in Women’s and Gender issues and
thus qualify them for leader-ship positions requiring
expertise. The Program complements the needs of
professionals in fields including: Education, Law, Social
Services, Cultural Anthropology, Counseling, Business,
Health Services, Public Administration, Public Relations,
Archaeology, Sports and Recreation, Criminal Justice,
Journalism, Community Development, and Politics.

The Women’s Leadership Certificate Program at Franklin Pierce University
in Rindge, NH sponsored a Women’s Day Fair
on Wednesday March 14th from 11:00am to 2:00pm in the
new Pierce Hall. The fair included student exhibits
displaying women’s contributions to life and learning from
students as well as faculty members. The purpose of this
event was two-fold: First, we wanted to involve the Franklin
Pierce community and surrounding towns together in
celebrating and acknowledging Women’s History during Women’s
History Month. The second purpose was to lend awareness
about women’s issues that affect college campuses such as
rape, sexual assault, and hate crimes. The Monadnock Center
for Violence Prevention and Franklin Pierce College’s Campus
Safety had information tables for violence against women.
Casey J’s Restaurant in Fitzwilliam, NH graciously donated
food to the event. Franklin Pierce College’s Office of
Academic Affairs, Chili’s, Applebee’s, Olive Garden, The
BeeHive Hair Salon, Vintage Rose Florist, and Sunflower Cafe
provided additional support.
With over 200 people in
participating, the fair was a success! We look forward to
future events and hope to receive your support! |
