TG Nawn ’86 has made giving to Franklin Pierce a habit he doesn’t
want to kick. He made modest gifts to the College starting in his
senior year, and as time went on he continued to contribute to the
Annual Fund increasing each gift when he could. Today his annual
gift makes him a member of the President’s Council and through a
matching gift from his company he’s able to more than double his
support for Franklin Pierce. Because giving is a habit for TG, he’s
made sure Franklin Pierce will continue to benefit from his
generosity after his lifetime by making the College a beneficiary in
his will.
“I work in the financial industry so I’m constantly reminded of the
importance of good financial habits. Giving is not an expense; it’s
a positive financial habit that I find very rewarding,” Nawn says.
He believes it shouldn’t take disasters like Hurricane Katrina or
the tsunami that struck Southeast Asia to make all of us support the
causes we care about. “If you start a habit of giving today, you
will feel better instantly knowing your money is going to good work
immediately. It’s a great investment.”
You don’t need to be a Bill Gates or Rockefeller to make a positive
impact either. Even small gifts make a difference to an
organization’s financial health. Your support is also important to
for other reasons. Large funders such as corporations, foundations
and government agencies want to know how many individuals contribute
to Franklin Pierce. This participation rate plays an important role
in their decision whether to fund the College or not.
“Franklin Pierce played a very important role in my life and I know
I benefited tremendously from my experience there. I still feel
connected to the College and am pleased to know that my gifts help
provide another generation of students with professors who go out of
their way to get to know their students personally, a close-knit
student body, a beautiful campus, and opportunities to take chances
and explore their sometimes previously untapped potential. I hope
others will develop the habit of giving to Pierce—it’s a habit you
won’t regret!”
